This book is considered to be one of the few valuable studies in the field. It deals with the Portuguese coins struck in India from the beginning of the sixteenth century up to 1888.
The book is divided into four parts, or fasciculus. The first part deals with the general observations on the institution of mints by the Portuguese in India, and description of the lowest coins. The second part deals with descriptions of the successive issues of money in chronological order until 1580. The third and fourth parts are devoted to the description of coins struck in the following 300 years.
