Serena Marcenò graduated in History at the University of Bologna. From 1996 to 2002 she worked on behalf of an Italian NGO as coordinator of the Mashreiq desk in a range of programs for development and cooperation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. In 2002 she completed a specialist degree in Institutions and Policies for the Protection of Human Rights. She is currently Professor of Political Philosophy at the University of Palermo.
Giulia Sajeva is a researcher in Political Philosophy at the Department of Cultures and Society at the University of Palermo. Previously a Marie Skłodowska Curie Individual Fellow at the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance, she is currently working on the project Food Sovereignty and Sustainable Development in Sicily: Small-scale and artisanal fisheries and the rights of local communities.
