Nigel Baker is a freelance archaeologist specialising in historic towns and has previously published books on Worcester and Gloucester, and Shrewsbury. He worked for Herefordshire Council for eight years and is an Honorary Research Fellow of the School of Geography and Earth Sciences, University of Birmingham.
Jonathan Brett was the Historic Environment Record Officer for Bristol City Council until his untimely death in 2007. He was the principal author of the first two drafts of this volume. He had a first degree in History from the University of Warwick and a Masters degree in Geographical Information Systems and Environment at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Robert Jones was the City Archaeologist for Bristol City Council from 1992 until his retirement in 2016. Prior to this he was a Senior Field Officer with Bristol Museum Field Archaeology Unit. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.
